NRFC Ladies Awards

Last Night Newtown RFC Ladies held their End of Season Awards Evening through the power of Zoom!

Special thank you’s were given to Hafren Junior School and headteacher Carl Hyde for the use of the school facilities, without this we would have struggled to get any training time during the wonderful Welsh winter weather!

Thanks also went to Gareth and Amy of N-Mac gym for their continued support to the club with the use of equipment during training sessions.

Thanks to President Dai Davies for his letter from the club committee congratulating the Ladies on everything they’ve achieved this season, both on the training pitch and for the support they’ve given to the club off the pitch.

Dai also acknowledged the individual achievements of Georgia Powell and Nia Rowlands for completing their Tag Rugby Coaches Course, becoming the first female coaches in the history of NRFC.

There were two end of season awards, Most Improved Player and Player of the Year.

Most Improved Player went to Connie Lewis. This was in recognition of how much Connie has grown in confidence since beginning her journey with the Ladies. 100% committed and respectful, the qualities needed to make a great rugby player!

Player of the Year could have gone to so many of the Ladies for various reasons, but the player who received this award is Alys Phillips. Alys has only missed one session all season, never complains, no matter the weather or how hard the session is and above all always has a smile on her face. Alys loves rugby, has always wanted to be a rugby player, and now she is.

Well done to everybody, especially our award winners.

We have finished the 2019/2020 season with 25 active players, a great number!! This can only get better

We go again next season (whenever that may be!)

Stay safe, keep smiling, see you all soon!
