Youth Team Virtual Awards

Last night the youth team dusted off their smart suits, put on their posh shoes and sat down in their front rooms to attend the first NRFC Youth Team virtual awards evening.

A great night was had by all and it was brilliant to see how keen the whole team are to return to playing once the season can start.

The evening included a quiz and a guess the baby rugby player with photos sent in by the players mums.

On to the awards....

Clubman of the year was awarded to Kyle Rowlands. The trophy is the Bob Hawthorn Cup and Bob’s son Paul made a guest appearance to present the award on behalf of Bob.

Most improved player was awarded to Dylan Nutting who had a great season.

Joe Hughes who was acknowledged by his team mates for the great season he’s had and awarded the Players Player of the year award.

Coaches player of the year was a difficult choice with several members of the team standing out. After several discussions a decision was made and Joe Hughes was presented with his second award of the night. A great achievement by Joe.

It was recognised that this youth team has been one of the most successful that the club has produced and the players that are moving on to senior rugby are desperate to continue building on this success, pushing hard for places in the First Team.

There were a couple of dodgy speeches from Freddie Jones and Ryan Parry thanking the coaching team for all their effort, and the whole club would like to echo those thanks. The coaching team have done a great job over the past few years.

A big thanks to Gareth Kelly for setting up the virtual awards on Zoom and and a massive thank you has to go to the team matriarch Ange Morris who’s huge amount of work doesn’t go un noticed.

Good luck to the boys stepping up and let’s see what next season brings.

2020 will certainly be a season to remember!
